Journal / Positano aperitif bar: a new collaboration between… More information
A generous bar in the heart of the NK department store with an interior custom designed by Förster and Wingårdhs. A dark green base blossoms with the lemon-yellow hues of the Amalfi Coast.
Behind this new restaurant and bar concept are the three restaurateurs Joel Söderbäck, Andreas Bergman, and Robert Rudinski, who also founded Tjoget on Södermalm, which has been recognized as one of the best bars in the world.
“Monica has known Robert for a long time,” says Sara Helder, architect at Wingårdhs. “She was looking for a collaborative partner on the project and reached out to me. The first time we Googled Positano, we were immediately captivated by a picture of the city as seen from the sea. Green hillsides and glittering blue sea meet the yellow of the lemon trees. It just looked so gloriously happy and beautiful. In that picture we found one building that reminded us a little of NK, with its prominent pillars in front. It also had a color scheme we thought would work well: the dark green in the background and the almost lemon-yellow pillars in front of a red building. That was the basis of our search for the right feeling for Positano inside of NK.”
We also have a shared experience of working with the Bosnian furniture maker Zanat, whose craftsmanship can be seen in the bar, the chairs, and the glass cabinets at Positano.
“I think that, through Zanat's genuine craftsmanship, we have succeeded in conveying the same warmth and caring that Joel, Andreas, and Robert invest in their food and drink,” says Monica Förster. “Every cocktail served in the bar is made with the same genuine interest and love that we felt when we were designing the interior.”
