The new hotel lies on Gävlegatan in Stockholm and occupies two buildings from different decades—a concrete warehouse designed by Sigurd Lewerentz in the 1930s and a newer office building designed by Alenius-Silverhielm-Åhlund in the 90s. Together they have been transformed into an urban hotel.
Wingårdhs has worked with both renovation and new additions here. We have preserved the details even while developing new rooms.
The design concept is rooted in the legacy left by Sigurd Lewerentz. Here the guests rest in the tension between the industrial severity and handcrafted softness. The base of concrete is complemented by a warm and finely crafted interior where classic furnishings mix with new ones.
The 249 guest rooms are well planned and include a number of fully equipped studio apartments for longer stays and a number of “sleep rooms” without windows. All of the rooms have access to 2220 square meters of public areas that include restaurants, bars, roof terrace, and spa. There will also be a large, 370-square-meter event venue adjacent to the hotel’s green courtyard.
Blique by Nobis opens in the spring of 2019.
