Gothenburg Landvetter Airport is Sweden's second largest international airport, and so far there has been no hotel in direct connection to it. That will all change this coming spring, when Scandic Landvetter opens its doors. Just a few steps into the large, recently modernized passenger terminal, the Wingårdhs designed hotel welcomes its guests.
Wingårdhs' working name for Scandic Landvetter has been Flag Hotel and it is indeed the national flag that is at the heart of the hotel's design. On the facades of the building, an abstract collage of the world's flags can be seen, as well as underneath the canopy. It is difficult to imagine a motive for an international airport hotel that is more suiting than flags. They provide a welcoming air of travel, international meetings and of cross-border conversations.
Scandic Landvetter welcomes its first guests on 31 May 2021. The hotel comprises 223 rooms, of which 80 are family rooms and 23 are accessible rooms. In the spring of 2022, Scandic Landvetter will undergo testing to be labelled with "Svanen", the Nordic region's official environmental certification.
