Architecture viewed through the lens of repair
The exhibition 'The Great Repair Moves North' at Form/Design Center in Malmö sheds light on the tension between ecological balance and unchecked growth, advocating for a new architectural ethos centred on repair.
The aim is to build a better understanding of how to practise architecture ethically in today's world.
Among other things, the exhibition features Wingårdhs' transformation of Hedmanska gården (the Hedman Estate) and Form/Design Center's premises in Malmö. How did the process unfold to create a clearer, more functional and self-evident meeting place for practitioners, industry and the public in Malmö?
The Great Repair Moves North is based on the exhibition The Great Repair, a project initiated by ARCH+ in collaboration with Akademie der Künste (the Academy of Arts) in Berlin, ETH Zürich and the University of Luxembourg. The exhibition is structured around seven themes that shed light on processes related to the maintenance and repair of buildings, cities and landscapes at different scales — from the daily rituals of upkeep to building methods that prioritise working with existing structures rather than replacing them with new ones.
Visit the exhibition until November 3, 2024. Read more here.
